Our Mission and Passion
We aim to be your Coron tour provider of choice as we promote the beauties of Coron. For more than a decade, we have been providing a wide range of tourism-related services with Coron, Palawan as our base.
Our passion: To showcase and safeguard Coron and the rest of the Calamianes' natural, cultural and historical treasures.
This passion is translated into these four areas:
Sustainable tourism. We believe in preserving Coron's beauty so that it can still be enjoyed by the succeeding generations. As a member of The International Ecotourism Society (TIES), we endeavor towards "responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and improves the well-being of local people." We actively make every effort to create and increase awareness for ecotourism best practices, both on the part of tourism professionals and tourists.
Community building. As we grow, our partner-communities grow with us. Calamianes Expeditions & Ecotours adopts a business model that cultivates and promotes community participation and provides locals with economic opportunities. Our tour packages incorporate locally-produced products and services provided by individuals belonging to our adopted communities. This means that with each tour, our clients contribute to building and enriching the community. We also aim at highlighting the artistry of local craftsmen and the culture of the indigenous people - the Tagbanua.
Conservation. Our commitment is to be the go-to organization when it comes to environmental-friendly best practices. We have studied each element of our tours and continually endeavor to integrate sustainability in our operations and products. We also work closely with both the government and the private sector in making sustainable tourism best practices universal for all providers and stakeholders.
Innovation. As Coron's pioneer in community-based eco-tourism, we work to maintain and promote that spirit of invention and creativity among our team and partners. We are committed to provide quality innovative products and services to our clients.
The Corong Galeri Story
Corong Galeri started as a souvenir shop that showcased the artistry of the Calamian locals, including the tribal minorities hailing from the islands and the upland communities. Through the years, Corong Galeri has worked to address the needs of both locals and tourists.
As part of their advocacy towards community-based ecotourism, proprietors Al and Mae Linsangan spearheaded Calamianes Expeditions Ecotours. This initiative provides quality and value-for-money tour products while ensuring community involvement and growth, conservation and sustainable tourism best practices.
Calamianes Expeditions Ecotours offers tourism and travel products where the main services providers and vendors are locals from an adopted community. From the guides, boat hires, operations service providers to vendors, we ensure that our tours feature locals and locally sourced materials. As a result, each tour activity we provide directly benefits at least seven families in our adopted community.
Who We Are
At the helm of Coron Galeri Lokals and Calamianes Expeditions Ecotours is the husband-and-wife team of Al and Mae Linsangan.
Al hails from a family that has lived in Coron for five generations. Al spent years immersing himself in the culture and life of the tribal communities. He is also a passionate and internationally-recognized nature photographer. His work has since been featured in coffee table books, travel publications and post cards.
His extensive knowledge of the indigenous cultural communities and the Calamianes Islands' treasures has provided him with insights in crafting tour products and packages. In addition, he is a staunch advocate of local community-based ecotourism and spearheaded a number of initiatives that promote and advance awareness when it comes to socially sustainable tourism.
Mae is from Puerto Princesa City. She provides invaluable support in managing the operations and day-to-day details of Calamianes Expeditions Ecotours. She is in charge of tourist relations, as well as in coordinating with the organization's partner communities to source out manpower, supplies and other tourism-related materials.
Our Community Partners
Building the community one family, one barangay at a time
With Calamianes Expeditions Ecotours, we impact our town through providing income opportunities to an adopted coastal community. As a start, we have enlisted the participation of a few families from Barangay Lajala to be our frontliners in our Coron Tour package operations.
There are individuals who are trained to deliver tour-related services (i.e. tour guides and boat men). We partner with individuals and families who share our mission and who are:
- Willing to be an active player in the local tourism industry
- Willing to protect the environment and promote eco-friendly best practices
- Willing to work in ensuring that tourists thoroughly enjoy what Coron and the Calamianes have to offer
